Crema Coffeehouse

Crema Coffeehouse
2862 Larimer
Denver Colorado 80205

I found Crema thanks to a post on Denveater. I am really looking forward to going in there, but in the meantime, here is some info on their website:

Crema is an artisanal coffeehouse; meaning that we look at coffee as both a craft and an art form. The coffee at Crema is made with either a French press or with a lever espresso machine. French press coffee creates a smooth, pure coffee flavor using a simple but effective process that doesn’t pass through a filter so you don’t lose those natural aromatic coffee oils. Most coffee lovers agree that this process creates a superior cup of coffee. So it is with lever espresso machines, known for their compelling simplicity of design and the unique flavor profile of the beverage they produce. Lever espresso machines are manual brewing devices that use a lever to push down a piston, which provides the right amount of pressure needed to brew espresso. The espresso making process of lever machines favors slow, thoughtful movements, an almost Zen-like moment of calm, focused creation. Pulling a perfect espresso shot from a lever espresso machine is a truly rewarding experience. The barista actually becomes a part of the brewing process. Lever machines also offer old world style and craftsmanship with the ability to brew exquisite espresso.

This one is on my list to visit again as I didn’t get a chance to take any photos while I was there. This is a great spot to stop if you are visiting the Denver Art Museum, or in the downtown area for any other reason. If you have a photo, send it to me at denvercoffee at gmail.

Hot Chick-a-Latté

Hot Chick-a-Latté

4736 E. Colfax Ave

No, this is not a coffee house that serves chicken, although Colfax has seen stranger concepts. While there may be some initial confusion, Hot Chick-a-Latte has a simple concept that delivers on its name… coffee served by hot chicks in skimpy outfits.
They serve Coda coffee and also offer a variety of other offerings including smoothies. Hot Chick-a-latte is one of only two Denver drive through coffee shops on Colfax.
Here is a story done by Denver’s AV Club.

Aspen Coffee on 16th St Mall

Aspen Coffee
216 16th St
Denver, CO 80202
(303) 623-3620

This coffee shop is located on the East end of the 16th street mall and has a “lodge” feel to it, making it a nice retreat from the hustle and bustle of downtown Denver. They serve Silver Canyon Coffee and have the usual pastries & sweets, along with a variety of foods, including a salad bar!

The Shoppe: Cereal + Cupcakes + Design Goods

The Shoppe
3103 East Colfax Avenue
Denver, CO 80206 (St.Paul + Colfax)
It’s hard to classify The Shoppe. At it’s heart, I suppose it’s a bakery (the cupcakes are AMAZING, but they also make cookies, pies, wedding cakes and other sweet treats.
The Shoppe also serves coffee (Ümpire Estate Mountain Roasters), has plenty of seating, offers free Wifi, and is open late (2am on Friday & Saturday). See their site for current hours.

We dropped by on Saturday during story hour, sponsored by the Tattered Cover. The kiddos get a free mini-cupcake or a free cereal topping, and enjoy great stories and even an activity.

If you like cereal, you won’t be disappointed. Choose from just about every cereal you could think of, or try one of their combinations like “Chocolaty Goodness” = Coco Puffs + Cocoa Krispies + M&M;’s.

They also have a retail section with books, apparel, artwork and other misc stuff.

If you haven’t been here, you should check it out!
